The Human Impacts on the Temperate Grasslands
The Positive effects of human impact are that the hunting of some animals have been banned due to extinction or extinction scares.National Parks have been created in order to preserve the grassland biome because of some of the extinction scares of some of the plants and animals. These parks are also to preserve what little of the natural grassland is left. People are becoming more aware of the situation and favor in protecting the Temperate Grassland biome.
The negative effects are that hundreds of animals have been hunted for valuable body parts. For example bison's have been hunted for their meat! This caused animals to near extinction because of over hunting them. However now days the hunting of these animals had been banned. Another negative human impact would be the fires in which were started by humans. When wildfires occur, the fire spreads quickly through the grass, damaging the soil. So even if the fires are on purpose or on accident the fire really do damage the area. Also because of the burning of fossil fuels, climate change may further lower the grassland health, causing changes in the seasonal temperature and causing droughts. Humans have also impacted by the over use of land for agriculture, causing an increase in soil erosion. Lastly there many different animal species that are losing their habitats due to the over use of the grasslands.
